Aterazawa

This is the central district of Oe Town, Nishimurayama County, in central Yamagata Prefecture. Formerly known as Atarazawa Town. Located on the left bank of the Mogami River, it is said to have been named after the river's "left side" or "that valley." During the Edo period, it was the center of the Atarazawa domain of the Shonai Matsuyama domain, and developed as a relay point for shipping along the Mogami River. National Routes 287 and 458 pass through the area, and Atarazawa Station, the terminus of the JR Atarazawa Line, is located here.

山形県中央部、西村山郡大江町の中心地区。旧左沢町。最上川(もがみがわ)左岸に位置し、呼称は川の「左方(あちら)」または「あちらの沢」からおこったという。江戸時代には庄内(しょうない)松山藩左沢領の中心地で、最上川舟運の中継地として発達した。国道287号、458号が通じ、JR左沢線の終点となる左沢駅がある。
