...Women who returned home after the stable period following World War II were not satisfied with their lives, and although the number of women receiving higher education increased, they were not given the opportunity to utilize their abilities. Inspired by sexism in the black movement and student movement, this gave birth to a new women's movement. Friedan's The Feminine Mystique (1963, Japanese title The Creation of a New Woman) was influential in expanding this movement.
