As a means of preventing this, they planned to make Yasuyukuhime empress, noting that it had been customary for an empress to ascend to the throne as a female empress after the death of her husband. To this end, they falsely accused Prince Nagaya, who opposed the idea, and removed him (the Nagaya Incident), had a lucky turtle presented from Furuichi County, Kawachi Province, where Michiyo was born, and the era name was changed to Tenpyo, and in 729 (Tenpyo 1), she finally became empress from outside the imperial family. …
