...A tributary of the Red River, or Song Khoi River, flows through the county, and it is an important transportation hub with a branch of the Kunhe Railway and the Mengbao Railway passing through it. During the Han Dynasty, Yizhou County and Xizui County were established here, and later during the Song Dynasty it became one of the bases of Dali, but in the 13th century Yuan Dynasty it was renamed Mengzi County. In accordance with a treaty with France (1886), a market was opened in 1889 (the 15th year of the Guangxu era), and tea and tin from Gejiu in the west of the county were exported to France via Vietnam. ...
