This is another name for the 180cm tall gilt bronze seated Shaka Nyorai statue, the principal image of Ago-in Temple at the site of Asuka-dera Temple in Asuka Village, Nara Prefecture, and it has been designated an Important Cultural Property of Japan. It is said to have been made by Kurasaku Tori and was produced in either 606 or 609. It is about 2.7m tall and has suffered numerous fires and has been restored each time, so only a small part of the face and hands remain as they were when it was first produced.
