Tadayoshi's third son, Kazuyasu, established the Azabu Yamauchi family in Edo, and his descendants were given 10,000 koku of rice from the main domain's rice tax, becoming the lords of Tosa Shinden Domain, a daimyo with a fixed residence. The status of Tosa samurai was divided into senior retainers, middle retainers, horsemen, pages, rusui-gumi, goshi, servants, foot soldiers, foot soldiers, and samurai servants.
