Nobuo Asaoka

Japanese: 浅岡信夫 - あさおかのぶお

1899-1968 A film actor and politician from the Showa era.
Born December 15, 1899. While attending Waseda University in 1920, he won the javelin at the Far East Olympics. In 1921, his outstanding physique was recognized and he joined Nikkatsu, appearing in films such as "For My Alma Mater." After the war, he served as chairman of the League of Repatriates of Overseas War Victims, and in 1947 he became a member of the House of Councillors (Liberal Party). He passed away on November 12, 1968. He was 68 years old. He was born in Tokyo.

明治32年12月15日生まれ。早大在学中の大正9年,極東オリンピックの槍(やり)投げで優勝。14年抜群の体格をみこまれ日活に入社,「母校の為めに」などの作品に出演した。戦後,海外戦災同胞引揚者同盟委員長などをつとめ,昭和22年参議院議員(自由党)。昭和43年11月12日死去。68歳。東京出身。
