Akosombo Dam

…The Volta Blanche originates north of Ouagadougou in the central highlands of Burkina Faso, flows almost south, and merges with the Volta Rouge, which originates southwest of Ouagadougou, in northern Ghana. It then flows through Ghana from north to south, collecting many other rivers. In order to develop the Volta River, Ghana planned the Volta Plan from the time of its independence.
