...The first color Chushingura film was the 1956 Toei production of the two-part Ako Roshi (directed by Matsuda Sadatsugu), and the first color wide-screen film was the 1957 Shochiku production of Dai Chushingura (directed by Ozone Tatsuyasu). After that, Toei, Shochiku, Daiei, and Toho produced a series of all-star blockbusters, and in 1978 Toei produced Ako Castle Destruction, directed by Fukasaku Kinji and starring Oishi Kuranosuke as Yorozuya Kinnosuke. In addition to these, there are countless spin-offs of the Ako Gishi, and in particular many of them feature Horibe Yasubei as the main character....
