"Records of the Righteous at Ako"

After their deaths, the Ako Roshi were praised as righteous men and loyal warriors. Among them, the Ako Gijinroku, written by Muro Kyūsō in the autumn of that year, is the most famous. They were considered to have acted righteously as vassals and warriors by reporting the revenge of their deceased lord, or by carrying out his will and killing Kira, and the fact that all of them served their sentences also attracted public sympathy.
