…In 1962, the International Polar Motion Observation Project was reorganized with the aim of determining precise polar motion from latitude and time observations at several cooperating observatories, including the six at the same latitude mentioned above, and the Institute serves as its central station. At Kyoto University, the Kazan Observatory was established in Yamashina, Kyoto, the Hida Observatory in Gifu Prefecture, and the Agematsu Infrared Observatory in Nagano Prefecture in 1929, 1968, and 1973, respectively.
