...Several tropical species are cultivated as garden plants, all of which are small shrubs 2-4m tall. A. wilkesiana Muell.Arg. is an evergreen shrub native to the islands of the South Pacific, and there are many garden varieties, including A. wilkesiana cv. Marginata, which has long, oval copper-red leaves with a pale pink border, and A. nigricans cv. Musaica, which has slightly incised leaf edges and a fine mosaic of green, pink, yellow-white, and copper-red, both of which were introduced to Japan at the end of the Meiji period. Other varieties include A. godseffiana Mast., which has oval leaves with highly uneven surfaces and thin, yellow-white borders, and its variant, A. godseffiana cv. Heterophylla, which has long, twisted leaves.

…熱帯産の数種が園芸植物として栽植され，いずれも2～4mの小低木である。アカリファ･ウィルケシアナA.wilkesiana Muell.Arg.は南太平洋の島々原産の常緑低木で，園芸品種が多く，銅赤色の長卵形葉で淡桃色の覆輪となるフクリンアカリファcv.Marginata，葉縁が少し切れ込み，緑，ピンク，黄白，銅赤色が細かくモザイク状に入るニシキアカリファcv.Musaicaなどが明治末年に日本に導入されている。ほかに葉面の凹凸がはげしい卵円形葉で，細く黄白色の覆輪となるキフクリンアカリファA.godseffiana Mast.や，その変種で，葉が細長くねじれるホソバキフクリンアカリファcv.Heterophyllaなどがある。…
