...Many of the kings of the First Dynasty of Kish, which is said to be the first dynasty after the flood, have Akkadian names, and Akkadian names are found in the historical documents of the Sumerian city-state of Shuruppak in the 27th century BCE. Around 2350 BCE, Sargon led the Semitic Akkadians, who had probably been familiar with Sumerian culture for generations, and built the capital city of Agade here (the ruins have not been discovered. It is believed to be located on the Euphrates River between Sippar and Kish), establishing the first Mesopotamian empire and starting a dynasty that, according to legend, had 11 kings and lasted 181 years (c. 2350 BCE to c. 2150 BCE). ...
