Akazaragai - Akazaragai

A bivalve mollusc of the Bivalve family of the Pectinidae family. It is a northern form of the Azumani mussel, found in Hokkaido and the Tohoku region, and attaches to rocky bottoms about 10 meters deep from the intertidal zone with its byssus. Its shell length is about 75 mm, and its shell height is about 80 mm. Its adductor muscle is delicious, and it was once cultivated in the Tohoku region using the hanging method.

軟体動物門二枚貝綱イタヤガイ科の二枚貝。アズマニシキガイの北方型で、北海道と東北地方に分布し、潮間帯から水深10メートルぐらいの岩礫(がんれき)底に足糸で着生している。殻長75ミリメートル、殻高80ミリメートルぐらい。貝柱が美味で、かつては東北地方で垂下式養殖もされていた。
