Blue Tomb - Aohaka

Japanese: 青墓 - あおはか
Blue Tomb - Aohaka

A district in the northwest of Ogaki City, Gifu Prefecture. Formerly known as Aohaka Village. A clear area since ancient times, it is home to the Hiruiotsuka Tomb and the Asobizuka Tomb. Located on the Tosando road in the Middle Ages, it is also a place associated with the father and son Minamoto no Yoshitomo and Yoritomo, and often appears in stories of the Genpei War. Yoshitomo's second son Tomonaga was killed here, and his grave is found there. Aono Town in the west was the heart of Mino Province (Gifu Prefecture) during the Ritsuryo period, and the remains of Mino Kokubunji Temple, excavated from a rice field to the northwest of Aono village, have been designated a national historic site.
