…A mountain range stretching between the Black Sea and the Caspian Sea. In Russia it is called the Greater Caucasus, and is distinguished from the Lesser Caucasus, located about 300 km to the south. Historically, it has been the border between Asia and Europe, with the northern part of the range in Russia and the southern part in Georgia and Azerbaijan. It is 1,200 km long and 180 km wide at its widest point, and is made up of several parallel mountain ranges. The highest part is the Watershed Range, and the Bokoboy Range, which runs parallel to it to the north, both of which have several peaks over 5,000 m above sea level. …
