…In Europe, the International Union of Students (headquartered in Brussels) was formed in 1919 as a student welfare organization, and during World War II in France and Italy, it carried out resistance movements against the German occupying forces. In 1942, the International Council of Students (headquartered in London) was formed with the aim of anti-fascism, and in November 1945, after World War II, the first international student conference after the war was held in Prague with the participation of 255 representatives from 51 countries. This led to the founding of the International Union of Students (IUS) by 43 student organizations from 39 countries. This international union expanded from Europe to Asia, Africa, and Latin America, which were linked to the struggle for national independence, and by 1967, it had expanded to include 87 student organizations from 82 countries, and continues to exist today. …
