"Grant-in-Aid for Scientific Research" is a research grant aimed at the development of academic research in all fields of humanities, social sciences, and natural sciences in order to contribute to the promotion of academic research in Japan. "Grant-in-Aid for Scientific Research" is divided into various research categories according to the purpose and nature of the research, and is reviewed and awarded by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology and the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science. Eligibility to apply includes universities, inter-university research institutes, and technical colleges, and the grant is awarded to the principal researcher or the representative of the research institution.
