Japanese: 改良半紙 - かいりょうばんし

〘Noun〙 Bleached Suruga-hanshi. Suruga-hanshi, which had been made from Mitsumata since the end of the Edo period, was unpopular due to its poor color, so it was bleached and sold from the end of the Meiji period.
