〘Noun〙 Bleached Suruga-hanshi. Suruga-hanshi, which had been made from Mitsumata since the end of the Edo period, was unpopular due to its poor color, so it was bleached and sold from the end of the Meiji period. Compared to the traditional paper mulberry, it has a finer texture, is whiter, thinner, and absorbs ink well, so it was well received. ※Manji (1928-30) Tanizaki Junichiro, vol. 19 "Towards two sheets of improved paper bound with a kanze-yori" Source: The Selected Edition of the Japanese Language Dictionary About the Selected Edition of the Japanese Language Dictionary Information |
