[Myths and legends]
The woodpecker is called Pix in Latin, and in Roman mythology, Saturn's son Picus was transformed into this bird because he rejected the love of the witch Circe. Ovid also tells us that Romulus and Remus were raised on the milk of wolves, who provided food for the woodpecker.

The Egyptians Isis and Hathor are depicted with bull horns and a sun disk, and the Greeks Pan and Satyr are also depicted with horns.
