Tytonidae

...A general term for birds in the Tytonidae family, or one of the species, Tyto alba (illustration). However, there is some confusion about which species the name barn owl applies to, and some people call T. alba the barn owl and T. longimembris , which is found in Australia and South Asia, the barn owl.
