The subfamily Turdinae is widely distributed on land throughout the world except the poles and New Zealand, and inhabits a wide range of environments from rainforests to deserts and tundra. In addition to the eight species mentioned above, other species that can be seen in Japan include the Japanese robin, the red-flanked blue-and-white flycatcher, the blue-and-white flycatcher, the Daurian redstart, the blue-and-white flycatcher, and the Japanese rock thrush.
