Mandibular nerve

Japanese: 下顎神経 - かがくしんけい（英語表記）mandibular nerve

The third branch of the trigeminal nerve. It is a mixed nerve that contains not only sensory fibers but also motor fibers coming from the motor root of the trigeminal nerve. It emerges from the trigeminal ganglion through the foramen ovale of the sphenoid bone into the infratemporal fossa, gives off branches to the dura mater, masticatory muscles, buccal mucosa, auricle, external auditory canal, etc., and then divides into two terminal branches, the lingual nerve and the inferior alveolar nerve.

三叉神経の第3枝。感覚神経線維のほかに三叉神経の運動根から来る運動神経線維を含む混合性の神経。三叉神経節から出て蝶形骨の卵円孔を通って側頭下窩に出，硬膜，咀しゃく筋，頬粘膜，耳介，外耳道などに枝を与えたのち，舌神経，下歯槽神経の2終枝に分れる。
