…In Paris, the greatest intellectuals of the time, such as A. Mickiewicz, J. Słowacki, and Z. Krasiński, gathered together and left behind immortal works in the history of Polish literature, expressing patriotic spirit and the desire to regain independence. However, as the prospect of liberation of the homeland became more distant, the Polish Messianism of Andrzej Towiański (1799-1878) and others, who preached the need for the nation to suffer, became stronger, and the country gradually became detached from the reality of the country. The image of the poet as a prophet and spiritual leader of the nation that was formed during this period would continue to be constantly revived in later literature. …
