...Each sect gave birth to further sub-sects, and their influence repeatedly ebbed and flowed. In the Middle Ages, the Muslim invasion of India dealt a blow not only to Buddhism but also to Jainism, but this triggered the birth of the new Lonkā sect, which rejected the worship of the Jina statues, and the strong traditions of Jainism never died out.

Currently, the white coat faction is found in large numbers in Gujarat, Rajasthan, Bombay, etc.
