Lourenço Marques

...Population: 932,000 (1991). Formerly known as Lourenço Marques, it was renamed to its current name in 1976, the year after Mozambique gained independence (1975). It is a port city located on the Indian Ocean coast in the south of the country, at the mouth of the Espirito Santo River, which flows into Delagoa Bay.
