Landgrave Louis IV der Heilige (1200-27), who lived in the early 13th century, married St. Elisabeth, daughter of the King of Hungary, but accompanied Emperor Frederick II on the Fifth Crusade and died at Otranto. The death of this young count caused a great shock, and he was later revered as a saint, and was sung in a verse poem called "The Crusade of St. Louis." ...
