Chinese philosopher and Marxist theorist. His real name was Li Shengxuan. He was born in Tengchong County, Yunnan Province. He studied in Hong Kong and Kunming before moving to Japan. After returning to China in 1931, he edited the magazine Reading Life and was active in the New Enlightenment Movement, writing Popular Philosophy (1934-1935) and many other essays, and working to popularize historical materialism. After the liberation, he held various important positions and was active in criticizing Hu Shi, Liang Shuming, and Yang Xianzhen (1896-1992), but he died of illness on March 22, 1966. After his death, Ai Siqi's Collected Works (People's Publishing House) was published.
