[Medicinal]
Almost all parts of the lotus plant are used for medicinal purposes. In herbal medicine, the nodes of the lotus root are called lotus nodes, the leaves are called lotus leaves, the leaf stalks are called peduncles, the flower stamens are called lotus beards, the fruit is called lotus seeds, the seeds are called lotus seeds cores, and the receptacles are called lotus bunches. The leaves, stamens, fruit, and seeds contain alkaloids.
