In Japan, the first retranslation was made in 1875 by Hideki Nagamine, titled Kaikan Kyoki Bōya (Arabia) Monogatari (The Tale of the Fantastic and Violent Nights), and subsequent retranslations from English or French translations were made by Edward William Lane (1801-76), RF Burton, Joseph Charles Mardrus (1868-1949), and others.
