Marsupialia

They belong to the order Marsupialia of the subclass Metatheria and are also called diuteriate mammals. They are found in Australia, Tasmania, New Guinea (a few in the Solomon Islands, Bismarck Islands, and the Maluku Islands), and South America (one species reaches North America).
