The Five Great Respect Laws

Japanese: 五大尊法 - ごだいそんほう

This is one of the esoteric Buddhist rituals to pray for good health, increased profits, and subjugation. The Five Great Kings are Fudo, Gozanze, Gundari, Daiitoku, and Kongoyasha, and in Tendai Esoteric Buddhism, Ususama Myo-o is sometimes used instead of Kongoyasha. These Myo-o are sometimes performed on five platforms, with each Myo-o on a platform, and sometimes on only one platform; the former is called the Godanho, and the latter the Idanho or Godaison Gogyoho. The Five Great Kings are also sometimes performed together in the Goshichinichimishuho (Later Seven Days Rites) (Godaison-gu).

息災，増益，調伏を祈る密教の修法の一つ。五大尊は不動，降三世（ごうざんぜ），軍荼利（ぐんだり），大威徳，金剛夜叉の五大明王のことで，天台密教では金剛夜叉にかえて烏蒭(枢)沙摩（うすさま）明王を用いることもある。これらの明王は，1明王ごとに壇を連ねて5壇で行う場合と，1壇のみで勤める場合とがあり，前者をとくに五壇法，後者を一壇法，五大尊合行法という。五大明王はまた後七日御修法（ごしちにちみしゆほう）などにも併修される(五大尊供)ことがある。
