Japanese: ソーセージノキ（英語表記）sausage tree

An evergreen tree of the Bignoniaceae family native to Africa, which grows to a height of 6-17 m and has large sausage-like fruits that hang from long stalks (illustration). The twigs have large leaf markings. The leaves are opposite or in whorls of 3, odd-pinnate compound. There are 7-13 leaflets, oval, oblong or slightly obovate, glabrous, 7.5-15 cm long. The pendulous panicle is 1-2 m long including the pedicel, and most of the branches are in whorls of 3, with a small number of flowers. The pedicels are 8-18 cm long and curve upward at the tips.

アフリカ原産のノウゼンカズラ科の常緑高木で，高さ6～17mとなり，ソーセージに似た大きな果実が長い果梗の先にぶらさがる（イラスト）。小枝には大きな葉印がある。葉は対生または3枚輪生，奇数羽状複葉。小葉は7～13枚，卵円形，長楕円形またはやや倒卵形で無毛，長さ7.5～15cm。下垂する円錐花序は花梗を含め長さ1～2m，花序の枝は大部分が3個輪生で，少数の花をつける。小花梗は長さ8～18cmで先端は上方に湾曲している。
