meatus nasi (English spelling) meatusnasi

…The structure of the lateral wall of the nasal cavity is very complex, with three or four protrusions called nasal turbinates, which are made of bone, spongy vascular tissue, and mucous membrane. From the bottom up, they are called the inferior turbinate, middle turbinate, superior turbinate, and superior turbinate. The depressions between the turbinates are usually air passages, so they are called the nasal passages, meatus nasi, and are named after the nasal turbinates. The middle and superior nasal passages provide access to the paranasal sinuses.
