Japanese:
Kai dog

It is an animal of the order Carnivora, family Canidae. It is a breed of domestic dog, and is a native dog of Japan. It is native to Yamanashi Prefecture, and its main characteristic is its tawny coat color, and it is divided into black tawny, medium tawny, and red tawny depending on the coat color. It has been used as a hunting dog in mountainous regions since ancient times, and is agile and has sharp senses. Its body shape is similar to other Japanese dogs, but there are two types: deer dog type and wild boar dog type. It has erect ears and a tucked or curled tail. Its height is about 40 to 51 centimeters. It is slightly larger than the Shiba Inu, and slightly smaller for a medium-sized dog. It was designated a national natural monument in 1934 (Showa 9) and efforts have been made to preserve it. Recently, it has become popular as a general household dog because of its wild coat color and behavior.
