motion picture

Japanese: motion picture(英語表記)motionpicture
motion picture

[On the word "film"]
The zoetrope, a type of rotating peephole that was the precursor to film, was invented in England in the 1830s, and when it was sold in the West as a scientific toy in the 1860s, the advertising slogan was "Spin the drum to see the picture move." From this, the term "moving picture," or "motion picture," was born, and it is said that it eventually became the term for film. In America, the abbreviation "movie" was already common in the 1910s (there was a fan magazine called "Movie" in the 1920s, and the film company Fox registered the trade name "Movietone"), and it has remained so to this day.
