...Apart from the main leaders, the expulsion of Fascists from public office was limited. Soon after the collapse of Fascism, a neo-fascist movement emerged among the members who had joined the Salò Republic, and in December 1946, the neo-fascist party Movimento Sociale Italiana (MSI) was formed. The MSI's influence and line have changed over time, but as of 1983, with Almirante as its leader, it has 42 members in the lower house of parliament (6.8% of the vote), making it the fourth largest party after the Socialist Party.
