mu'min (English spelling) mumin

Japanese: mu'min(英語表記)mumin
mu'min (English spelling) mumin

...It is generally accepted today that Islam means absolute submission to the one God Allah, iman means faith in the heart, deen means religion in general or the unification of the inner iman and the outer manifestation of Islam, and milla means the teachings of a particular prophet of the past, or belonging to that umma (community), as typified by the term milla Ibrāhīm, the religion of Abraham. Of these terms, iman was the one most frequently used in the Qur'an, and at the same time, mu'min was the one most frequently used to mean a believer. In the early Islamic era, the term commonly used to mean a Muslim was mu'min, not Muslim.

From [Muslim]

...Originally, it was the active participle of the fourth verb aslama, which has the Arabic root s-l-m, and meant "one who submits absolutely to God." In the Quran, both "Muslim" and the active participle of the fourth verb a'mana, which has the root '-m-n, are used to refer to followers of the monotheistic religion preached by Muhammad, with the latter being used far more frequently. However, when Islam was established as a name for the religion, the term "Muslim" was also established to refer to Muslims.
