Okitsu was made up of Honjuku and Nakajuku-cho, and the Koshu Okan (Minobu Kaido) branched off from Nakajuku-cho along the Okitsu River to the north, passing through Shishibara-juku at Suruga-Kobe and Minobu, leading to Kofu, making it a key transportation hub.
