Ashizuri

Japanese: 足摺 - あしずり
Ashizuri
The title of a Heike song. Hiramono (flat material). Fushimono (fushimono). Three people, Shunkan, the monk Shunkan, Tanba Shosho Naritsune, and Taira Judge Yasuyori, were exiled to Kikaigashima Island for plotting to overthrow the Taira government. When Kiyomori's daughter, Empress Dowager Naritsune, becomes pregnant, a messenger travels to the island to pray for a safe delivery and receive a pardon. However, when Shunkan finds out that he is the only one whose name is not on the pardon, he laments and wonders if he is dreaming (Sanjuyu). The boat has already left the island, and Shunkan drags his feet on the beach, begging to be let on. Seeing the boat receding into the distance, Shunkan climbs to a high place to see it off (Mie), but ends up spending the night there.
