〘 noun 〙 In the Edo period, when land was surveyed, cultivated land was hidden from officials, and no taxes were paid even if it was cultivated. If it was discovered, it was punishable by a serious crime, including the death penalty. 〘名〙 江戸時代、検地の際、役人に隠しておいて、耕作しても年貢を納めない耕地。発覚した場合は死罪などの重罪に処せられた。ただし、検地後一年以内にその旨を申し出た土地は、落地(おちち)といって区別された。隠地(おんち)。おんでん。〔地方凡例録(1794)〕
