Music cognition - Ongakuninchi (English spelling) music cognition

Music cognition - Ongakuninchi (English spelling) music cognition
In a broad sense, it refers to all human activities related to listening to and creating music, such as listening to and understanding (interpretation and appreciation), playing and singing, composing and improvising, and research on these activities, and more specifically, it refers to those aspects related to listening and understanding. Music cognition is considered important because music is a universal human activity, regardless of society or culture, and because it is considered a basic cognitive branch on a par with other cognitive abilities such as language, mathematics and logic, spatial cognition, and motor control. Music cognition has both its own uniqueness as music cognition and its character as part of a more universal cognitive ability, and these are intricately intertwined in practice and in research.
