A library that handles music materials such as sheet music, music books, and records. With the recent development and spread of new media, there has been a recent trend to handle non-book materials, including audio and video materials, in music libraries, or to group non-book materials together regardless of their content and set up independent audiovisual centers. There are several types of music libraries, depending on the type and content of the materials they hold, and the purpose and function of the library. (1) Libraries that hold original materials such as manuscripts, early printed scores, and autographs in monasteries, churches, universities, etc. that were once the centers of musical activity (Monte Cassino Abbey, Westminster Abbey, Oxford University).
