...The body is white or light yellowish brown, with black or brown markings around the nose and eyes. It is distributed in the arid regions of Africa and Arabia and includes three genera and seven species, such as the Arabian oryx (Oryx leucoryx) , which is at risk of extinction; the addax (Addax nasomaculatus) , which was kept as a semi-domestic animal by the ancient Egyptians; and the sable antelope (Hippotragus niger) , which is said to be the most magnificent antelope. (4) Reduncinae: Medium to large in size, females have no horns, and their tails are of medium length and usually lack a tuft of hair at the tip.
