shāhānshāh (English spelling) shahanshah

…From the modern Persian word for "ruler" or "king" (Old Persian xshāyathiya, Parthian and Middle Persian shāh). The Achaemenid and Sassanid emperors had the title of "King of Kings (shahānshāh)" and were absolute monarchs who received divine authority to rule the empire. In the Islamic period, the title of shah was rarely used in Iran for the 8th and a half centuries (Buwayhid rulers used the title of shahānshāh), and the titles of amir, sultan, and malik were used instead.
