Another strong current of eugenics was in Germany. The book "Fundamentals of Race Hygiene" by Alfred Ploetz (1860-1940), published in 1895, was the starting point of German eugenics. Eugenics is generally believed to be a politically far-right discipline, but in reality this is not necessarily the case, and many socialists and liberal thinkers were interested in it.
