...Their royal lineage was from the Bayindur tribe among the Oghuz tribes. Their founder, Qara 'Uthmān, consolidated his power in the Diyarbakir region, but was hindered by conflicts with the Turkmen Kara Koyunlu dynasty. During the reign of the fifth king, Uzun Hasan (reigned 1453-78), he destroyed his arch rival, the Kara Koyunlu dynasty, took control of its territory, and opposed the Ottoman dynasty, Mehmed II, but suffered a bitter defeat.
