...In 1920, he joined the Paris Dada movement with Tzara and Picabia, but also joined poets and painters such as Perret, Desnos, Krubel, and Ernst in conducting field research on dreams, hypnosis, and mediumship, and through these he confirmed the existence of automatic thought that was not controlled by reason, which he tentatively named "Surrealism." After breaking away from Dada, he published the Surrealist Manifesto (drafted by Breton) in 1924, which theoretically summarized his activities up to that point, and advocated the liberation of thought, the restoration of the imagination, and the reexamination of dreams, madness, and the mysterious. He also founded the journal "Révolution surréaliste" and opened the "Surrealist Research Center" (1925), officially launching a collective movement. Artaud, Nabil, Limbourg, Leiris, Queneau, and Prévert also joined. ...
