The lateral wall is approximately 1/3 (3-5 mm) thicker than the left ventricular wall, and in cross section it is attached to the right side of the interventricular septum in a semicircular shape. The outflow part of the right ventricle extends forward and upward in the front of the heart in a funnel shape (muscular infundibulum) and connects to the pulmonary artery via the pulmonary valve.
