…He discovered a phenomenon in which certain reactions, even though inappropriate, continue abnormally when a state of frustration continues, and named it the abnormal fixation reaction. S. Rosenzweig further classified reaction patterns in a state of frustration into demand fixation type, obstacle dominance type, and ego defense type, and categorized the direction of aggression into external punishment, internal punishment, and non-punishment, and came up with a method of describing personality by combinations of these. He also recognized that humans have the ability to endure a state of frustration without becoming psychologically maladjusted, and called this "frustration tolerance." …
